ITP extends its partnership with Rolls-Royce to latest generation engines

Industria de Turbo Propulsores (ITP) and aircraft engine manufacturer Rolls-Royce have signed a collaboration agreement by which the Basque company becomes the supplier of its low pressure turbines – conventional turbines – and of its new high speed turbines for the new generation Ultrafan engines.

Ultrafan engines are the future generation of engines for the aeronautical sector, on which Rolls-Royce is currently working, and are expected to come into service from 2025.

One of the consequences of the agreement is that greater investment will be made in R&D aimed at acquiringtechnology. At present, ITP envisages a total investment of more than 75 million euros over the next five years.

The agreement has been reached after ITP has proven its capabilities in the sector through the design and development of low pressure turbines for the Trent engines family, that power the Airbus A330, A340, A380, A350 and the Boeing 787.

The activities of the ITP group, owned by Sener (53.125%) and Rolls-Royce (46.875%), include the design, research and manufacture of aircraft engines and gas turbines. Moreover, it has 17 production centres in Spain, Great Britain, Malta, United States, India and Mexico.
