Folklore involves popular wisdom and it collects the customs and traditions from different countries or from different cultures within a society. Folklore is created by society and it is aimed at society; it tells of the character and the personality of its people is that why Basque folklore has a very different and unique character from other ones in Spain. The same happens with our music, here you´ll find instrumental and sound that you can´t hear in other place.
That is why we wanted to approach you a small part of our culture and tradition. We want to show you what a “jentilleak” or “lamiak” are; we wanted to show you how a “txalaparta” or an “alboka” sounds like.
And we wanted to show it by the hand of one of the best Basque mythologist, who has written several books and who also has all the official title for Basque instruments; Aritza Bergara.
This introduction to our culture will be next FRIDAY 20, at 18:30h in BBK TALENT, in the Óculo.
As it will be something informal, and the space in the Oculo is which it is, we think that 25 people could be a nice number for a group to enjoy and evening that will finish with a small dinner.
