Bilbao Airport is crowned as the best in Europe according to the Airhelp Score ranking

  • The airport occupies the twenty-first position in the worldwide classification.

Airhelp, the leading worldwide organization devoted to the defence of the rights of airline passengers, has published its annual Airhelp Score for 2023 classifying the world’s top airports. This ranking has been drawn up since 2015 and it assesses the world’s best airlines and airports, taking into account passengers’ experiences. Marks are given to airports bearing in mind punctuality, service quality, and the quality of the catering and shopping zones.

Bilbao Airport is in the 21st position in the global classification, three places higher than in the 2022 report, and furthermore it is the leading airport in Europe.

“La Paloma” (The Dove), as Bilbao Airport is named due to its design in the form of a bird with outstretched wings, obtained an overall score of 8.04 points; with 8.11 for punctuality, 8.14 for customer satisfaction and 7.74 in terms of leisure areas such as shops and restaurants.

Asia and South America, the continents with the best airports in the world
The top airport in the ranking drawn up by Airhelp is the International Airport of Muscat in Oman, which achieved an overall score of 8.54, followed by Recife Airport in Brazil which scored 8.49. The countries which feature the most in the world’s top ten airports are Brazil and Japan, with four and three airports respectively.
